The First Room 217

Music changed the end of life experience for Bev and her family as they said goodbye to Bev’s dad in Room 217 at the local hospital. Music brought them a deeper sense of connection, a sense of comfort and a meaningful way to say goodbye.

As she left the hospital, Bev had 2 questions. Do care providers and family caregivers know about the tremendous capacity of music for living and dying well? Do they have the tools and knowledge they need to integrate music into their regular caring practice? This was the impetus for Bev and her husband, Rob, to establish the Room 217 Foundation. These questions continue to drive the vision and mission to this day.

MUSIC CARE by Room 217 delivers research-informed tools, training and standards to increase engagement and improve quality of life and care with music.
